During fall 2019, a series of workshops has provided new and valuable insights from the UC Berkeley campus community regarding potential updates to our Long Range Development Plan and Campus Master Plan. Conducted by Sasaki Associates and planners from UC Berkeley Capital Strategies, each workshop centered around a distinct theme and provided attendees an opportunity to share their unique campus experiences and participate in active problem-solving scenarios and brainstorming exercises.
A colorful display of large posters captivated passers-by this past week at Sather Gate and North Gate. On October 15 and 16, Capital Strategies staff hosted an outdoor showcase highlighting progress made to date on the LRDP and Campus Master Plan initiatives, as well as some key emerging themes. Faculty, staff, and students were invited to ask questions about the findings and to submit their questions and planning ideas.
After four days of tabling across the campus – from Savio Steps to North Gate, and Kroeber Plaza to Sather Gate – the Capital Strategies team met hundreds of faculty, students, and staff and introduced them to the LRDP and Campus Master Plan initiatives. In addition to asking everyone to sign-up for future project updates, the team also answered numerous questions about campus planning and listened to creative ideas and suggestions about planning our future campus. Passers-by also got the chance to spin a wheel for a chance to win a fabulous prize – like a UC Berkeley notebook!
